The Big Run - Kernersville

Kernersville, United States • 6 Jun 2026

Event Overview

The Big Run 5K takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, North Carolina. It is held in honor of Global Running Day and is part of a nationwide series of events.

Course and Format

The event features a cross-country course. Because of this format, there are multiple timed heats for the 5K distance and an untimed fun run.

Available events:

  • Timed 5K: Heat 1 (Sub 30 Minutes)
  • Timed 5K: Heat 2 (25 Minutes +)
  • 1 Mile Fun Run (untimed)
  • Elite Timed 5K: Heat 3

For the Elite Heat (Heat 3), qualifying times are required: men under 18:00 and women under 20:00. A cash prize purse is offered for this heat. There is also a complimentary entry option for runners who meet faster time standards.

Registration and Awards

Race shirts are guaranteed for the first 350 registrants for the 5K and the first 80 for the fun run. A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to a local charity focused on providing shoes to underprivileged individuals.

For the standard timed heats (Heats 1 and 2), awards will be combined across both heats. Awards will be given for overall, masters, and multiple age group categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
