The Big Run 5K in Kernersville

The Big Run 5K takes place on June 6, 2026 at Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, North Carolina. The event is organized by Fleet Feet and presented by Brooks to coincide with Global Running Day. The course is a cross-country layout and participants may run or walk. A post race expo is scheduled and race shirts are guaranteed to the first 350 5K registrants and the first 80 fun run registrants.

The event is structured into three heats because of the cross-country course. Heats 1 and 2 are intended for general competitive grouping by expected finish time. The elite heat requires qualifying times and race director approval. The elite heat offers a prize purse of $1,200 with payouts of $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place for male and female divisions.

Results are reported by gun or clock time; chip start times are not recorded due to the cross-country start. Heats 1 and 2 are combined for age group awards. Awards include top three overall male and female, first place masters male and female, and top three in each age group. Age groups run from 9 and under, then 10-14, 15-19, and by five year increments up to 80 and over.

Registration opens February 23, 2026. Most registration closes May 6, 2026, while the elite heat allows registration through race day.
