The Big Mountain Run - Danny On Hill Climb

The Big Mountain Run is the 44th annual hill climb held at Whitefish Mountain Resort in Whitefish, Montana on July 25, 2026. The course follows the Danny On Trail to the point where that trail meets the cat track to the Summit House. The route is 3.8 Miles with 2,200 ft elevation gain. Each entry includes a one-time lift ticket for the return from the summit, race swag, prizes, and snacks available at the top.

The event accepts runners, walkers, and hikers of all ages. Competition categories include fastest adults (King and Queen), fastest juniors 16 and under (Prince and Princess), oldest and youngest runner, Top Dog Award for the fastest dog on a leash, and a Birthday Club for participants who finish in a time less than their age with a specified adjustment for women. Awards are presented on the deck of the Summit House.

Registration fees are listed for adults and juniors, with higher day of race fees. Day of registration is available at the Danny On Trail start area with advice to allow time for on-site processing. The event is a fundraiser for the Glacier Nordic Club to support the Glacier Nordic Ski Team, youth programs, trail grooming, and the club rental shop and lessons.
