Battle of the Brampton Valley Way
Market Harborough, United Kingdom • 12 Apr 2026
Event Overview
The Battle of the Brampton Valley Way is a 45 km (28 mile) out-and-back run along the Brampton Valley Way in rural Northamptonshire. It is an ultra-distance event, slightly longer than a marathon.
Course Details
The route follows the traffic-free Brampton Valley Way, which is a flat, hard-packed track. The total elevation gain is approximately 280 meters. Runners will pass through two unlit tunnels, one 294 meters long and the other 422 meters long. The surface in the tunnels has ruts and puddles. The event is cupless; participants must bring their own cup or hydration vest. The cut-off time is 7 hours.
Race Format
Participants choose to start from either the Market Harborough (Leicestershire) or Northampton (Northamptonshire) end. There are 100 places available from each end. The choice determines which county team the runner represents. Timing mats at both ends provide a halfway split time. A team competition compares the aggregate performance of runners from each county.
Support and Facilities
There are four feed stations along the course, approximately every 4.5 miles. Toilets are available at both the start/finish and the turnaround point. Professional first aid is available at the start/finish and can access the course. Volunteers will be present at road crossings. Most crossings are on minor roads, with one busier crossing at the A508.
Entry Information
Entry costs £32. The minimum age is 18. Entries close 7 days before the event. Participants must keep left on the track as it is narrow. The event is not suitable for canicross.
Awards and Extras
Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers. All finishers receive a medal. Technical t-shirts can be pre-ordered up to three weeks before the event. Official race photos are provided free of charge after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
