Battle of the Brampton Valley Way
The event is an out-and-back race along the traffic-free Brampton Valley Way on Sunday 11 April 2027. The route consists of two 14 mile stretches along a hard packed track that passes through rural Northamptonshire and includes two long dark tunnels.

Runners choose which end to start from and represent either Market Harborough in Leicestershire or Northampton. There are 100 places available from each end and timing mats at both ends provide halfway split times. A mathematical model will be used to compare performances across the two fields to determine which county performed best.
The course has about 280 m of elevation gain. Surfaces are generally suitable for road or trail shoes with occasional puddles and a small ford. Two tunnels measure about 294 m and 422 m; a head torch or small handheld torch is required and the tunnel surfaces have ruts and puddles. There are feed stations approximately every 4.5 miles, four in total, and toilets at both ends and at the turnaround point.
The race is cupless so participants must bring their own cup or hydration vest. The event is not suitable for canicross and runners will be asked to keep left at all times. Professional first aid is available at the start and finish and volunteers will staff road crossings. The race cut-off time is seven hours.
Entries are open at a fee of £35. Minimum age for entry is 18 years on race day. Race bibs are not posted and must be collected on race day at the designated locations for each start end. Race t-shirts can be pre-ordered up to three weeks before the event; no t-shirts will be sold on race day. All finishers receive an event medal and prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers. Free digital race photos will be available after the event.
