Battle of the Brampton Valley Way

The Battle of the Brampton Valley Way is a 28 mile (45 km) ultra run that follows the length of the Brampton Valley Way and back. The course is a flat, traffic-free route through rural Northamptonshire with a total elevation gain of 280 meters. The distance is slightly longer than a standard marathon and serves as a transition for those interested in longer distance running.

Participants choose to start from one of two locations, representing either Market Harborough/Leicestershire or Northampton/Northamptonshire in a competitive format.

  • 28 miles (45 km)

The route consists of a hard-packed track suitable for road or trail shoes. It includes passage through two dark tunnels measuring 294 meters and 422 meters, requiring participants to carry a head torch or handheld torch. This event is cupless, so runners must provide their own hydration vests or cups. Feed stations are located every 4.5 miles, and toilets are available at both starting points and the turnaround point.

The race has a 7-hour cut-off time. Due to narrow sections on the track, canicross racing is not permitted. Minimum age for entry is 18 years old. All finishers receive a medal, and digital race photos are provided for download after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
