Battle of the Brampton Valley Way

The event is an out and back held on the traffic free Brampton Valley Way, running between Market Harborough and Northampton on Sunday 11 April 2027. The full route covers two 14 mile stretches for a total of 28 miles (approximately 45 km). The one way distance is 14 miles (about 22.5 km). Total elevation gain is relatively modest at 280 m and the surface is hard packed track.

Entries are priced at £35 and the minimum age is 18 on race day. There will be 100 places available from each end, with runners choosing to represent either Market Harborough / Leicestershire or Northampton / Northamptonshire. Entries and transfers close at 7pm on the Wednesday before the event. The race cut off time is seven hours. The event is not suitable for canicross and runners will be required to keep left on the route.

Timing mats are placed at both ends to provide halfway split times. Organisers will compare performances across both sides using a mathematical model. On course support includes professional first aid at the start and finish, volunteers at road crossings, and feed stations approximately every 4.5 miles (four in total). Toilets are available at both ends and at the turnaround point.

The surface suits road or trail shoes with occasional puddles and a small ford. The route passes through two dark tunnels of 294 m and 422 m where a head torch or small handheld torch is required; tunnel surfaces have ruts and puddles. The event is cupless so runners should bring their own cup or hydration vest. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and all finishers receive an event medal. Race t shirts can be pre ordered up to three weeks before the event. Free digital race photos are made available after the race.
