Event overview

The Battle of the Brampton Valley Way is a one-day ultra event on the traffic-free Brampton Valley Way between Northampton and Market Harborough. Runners choose which end to start from and represent either Market Harborough/Leicestershire or Northampton/shire. There are 100 places available from each end. The route covers 14 miles (22.5 km) each way, making a round trip of 28 miles (45 km). The total elevation gain is 280 m. The entry fee is £32. Minimum age is 18 on race day. The race cut-off time is 7 hours. Entries and transfer of entries close 7 days before the event.

Route, support and kit

The surface is hard packed track, suitable for road or trail shoes, with occasional puddles and a small ford. There are two dark tunnels on the route, measuring 294 m and 422 m; a head torch or small handheld torch is required. Feed stations are located every 4.5 miles (four in total: two mid-course and one at each end). Professional first aid is provided at the start and finish with access to the course. Race Harborough volunteers will staff road crossings; the crossing at the A508 is noted as busier. Toilets are available at both ends and at the turnaround point (14 miles).

Timing, prizes and extras

There will be timing mats at both ends to provide a halfway split. Prizes are planned for the top three male and top three female finishers. All finishers receive a specially commissioned event medal. Race photos will be available as free digital downloads after the event. T-shirts can be pre-ordered for £16 up to three weeks before the event; none will be sold on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
