The Aliza Lapierre Fan Club Trail Race

The Aliza Lapierre Fan Club Trail Race is a trail running event presented by the Richmond Trail Running Club. The event offers individual and team options over mixed road and rugged singletrack terrain around the Richmond area.

Distances and options:

  • 50K: approximately 8 miles of road and 23 miles of rugged trails; over 5,000 feet of climbing.
  • 26K: approximately 4 miles of road and 13 miles of rugged trails; over 2,500 feet of climbing.
  • Two person relay: teams share one of the listed distances.

The courses traverse towns including Huntington, Starksboro, Hinesburg and Richmond. A course map is provided and the course is subject to change; participants are instructed to follow course markers. The 50K route combines extended trail sections with several miles of road, while the 26K uses a shorter mix of road and trails.

Race proceeds are donated to a local nonprofit to provide area youth and families with affordable skiing and snowboarding lessons through Cochran's Ski Area.

The event began in 2020 after a small group completed an extended trail outing that included additional miles along the Winooski River and a Long Trail crossing of Camel's Hump to form a longer day. The organizing group has expressed interest in extending the route toward a full 50 mile course in the future. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
