Thames Meander Autumn is a riverside trail event that uses the Thames Path around Richmond and Barnes. The race is run as marked out and back routes with three distance options and designated turnaround points and check points along the towpath.
The event starts and finishes at the Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts HQ (Petersham Road, Richmond TW10 7AH). The route follows the Thames Path and is shared with other members of the public, including walkers and cyclists; some sections are narrow and the surface can vary between concrete, cobbles and light trail. The course is described as generally flat and runnable, with clear signage and marshals on the route.
Three distances are offered:
- 10 km : one out and back lap to Kew Gardens Car Park CP2.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) : one out and back lap to the Barnes turnaround CP3.
- Marathon (26.2 miles) : two 13.1 mile out and back laps to the Barnes turnaround.
There are three official check points: CP1 at the Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts, CP2 at Kew Gardens Car Park (Ferry Lane), and CP3 opposite Barnes Sports Club (Lonsdale Rd). Check points are stocked with food, gels, drinks and electrolyte powders, and medical cover is provided by KLP Medics at CP1 and CP2. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
