Riverside Trail Series

The Thames Meander Autumn is a riverside race series held in Richmond. The event operates from the Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts HQ at Douglas House Meadow. Participants traverse the Thames Path towpath, following an out-and-back format that reaches toward Barnes before returning to the start-finish area.

The course is set on a trail surface consisting of a mix of concrete, cobbles, and light trail paths. It is noted for being flat and fast, following the natural curves of the river. As the route uses the Thames Path, it remains open to the public, including pedestrians and cyclists.

The following distances are available:

  • 10 km: A single out-and-back loop reaching Kew Gardens Car Park.
  • Half Marathon: A single 13.1-mile out-and-back loop reaching Barnes.
  • Marathon: Two 13.1-mile out-and-back loops reaching Barnes.

The course features three stocked check points providing high-energy foods, gels, drinks, and electrolyte powders. These stations are located at the Sea Scouts HQ, Kew Gardens Car Park, and opposite the Barnes Sports Club. Medical support is stationed at the first two check points for the duration of the event. The turnaround points and route are marked and assisted by marshals. Facilities at the race headquarters include bag storage and toilets.
