Event details

Ras Tarrenhendre Fell Race takes place on Saturday 31 January 2026 in Abergynolwyn, Wales. The event is part of the Meirionnydd Winter Race Series and is listed as Category AS with a WFRA grade including AS/LK/PM/SER/NS. The advertised distance is 6 miles (9.7 km) with about 2000 ft (around 610 m) of ascent. The venue for race HQ is Abergynolwyn Village Hall, LL36.

Course and race format

The course is a circular fell route that rises from under 50 m above sea level to the Tarrenhendre summit (about 634 m). Much of the route goes through forestry and ridge running, with sections that pass old slate quarries and a large cwm. The route description notes two steep single-track climbs, a third exposed climb to the summit, a moorland descent, steep boggy forest paths, and a final stretch of trail back to the start. Navigation is described as straightforward in fair weather. Organisers warn that the route may be altered because of forestry operations.
