Course and logistics

The route is a circular course that rises from below 50 m above sea level to the 634 m summit of Tarrenhendre. It follows forestry tracks to a ridge, then descends into a large cwm with old slate quarries. Much of the route runs on forest trail in the bottom of the cwm. There are two single-track climbs, a further exposed climb to the summit, a stretch of open moorland descent, steep and boggy forest paths down to the quarry, and a final couple of miles of trail back to the start. Navigation on the route is described as straightforward in fair weather. Due to forestry operations the route may be altered for this year.
