Tampa Bay 100
The Tampa Bay 100 is a point-to-point urban ultramarathon covering 100 miles through the Tampa Bay region. The route begins in Ybor City, passes through Tampa, Safety Harbor, Dunedin, Clearwater, Gulf Blvd and Gulfport, and finishes near the 11th Ave Pier in Vinoy Park, St. Petersburg. The course is mostly flat with several bridges and has roughly 1,165 feet of elevation gain and about 1,218 feet of elevation loss.
Navigation is by directional cards and the CalTopo app. There are five staffed aid stations at Courtney Campbell, Cooper’s Bayou, Dunedin, Indian Rocks Beach, and Gulfport, plus several supplies caches placed between stations. Drop bags are allowed at the Dunedin aid station (between 50 and 60 miles) and at Gulfport (around 80 miles). Cutoffs include a Dunedin hard cutoff at the 19th hour, a Gulfport hard cutoff at the 29th hour, and an overall cutoff of 36.5 hours.
The event is run as a self guided endurance tour rather than a timed competitive race; finish times are recorded and top finishers receive awards. Finishers of the 100 mile distance earn a 100 mile belt buckle. Mandatory equipment carried by each runner includes a cell phone, the provided direction sheet, at least one 20 oz water container or hydration pack, headlamp with spare batteries, reflective gear, blinking lights, and the CalTopo app. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
