The Sussex Downs Trail Run takes place on Saturday 6th December 2025 at Plumpton Racecourse, Lewes (BN7 3AL). The event is set inside the South Downs National Park. Dogs are not allowed on the event site.

Course and distances

Three route options are offered:

  • 21.3 km
  • 12.0 km
  • 9 km

The routes begin with a flattish 3.5 km tree-lined section, then climb to the South Downs Way. Runners follow a loop on sturdy trails towards Brighton, return to the South Downs Way, descend from the hilltop and finish with a flat final 3 km. The listed elevation gains are +382 m for the 21.3 km route and +212 m for the 12.0 km route. Course signage uses pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are marked with "Caution" signs.

On-course services and logistics

Entries include chip timing, a bib number, water stations, first aid support, marshals and a finishers medal, finisher’s gift and a drink. The event operates a plastic-free policy; participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle for use at water stations. Spectators are welcome.
