Summer Solstice 10K & 5K
The Summer Solstice trail run is an annual event held in the heart of Beaver Creek, Colorado, coinciding with the longest day of the year. The course begins and ends on the lawn adjacent to the Centennial Lift at the base of Beaver Creek Resort. Participants traverse a variety of terrain within the ski resort, including single-track trails and gravel service roads, with views of blooming wildflowers such as the state columbine.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different preferences:
- 10K (6.2 miles): Features 985 feet of elevation gain with 79% single-track trails.
- 5K (3.2 miles): Includes 610 feet of elevation gain with a mix of 50% single-track and 49% dirt roads.
- Kids Fun Run: A short course up a gravel service road featuring obstacles.
The 10K route utilizes trails such as Aspen Glade, Allie's Way, and Village Loop. There are two aid stations provided for the 10K and one for the 5K, offering water and hydration drinks. As this is a papercup-less race series, runners are encouraged to bring their own reusable hydration devices.
Participants receive a custom race t-shirt and are eligible for post-race awards across various age categories. Refueling options at the finish line typically include fruit, donuts, and breakfast burritos. The event benefits the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, a non-profit organization supporting community members in need. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
