Sulphur Springs Trail Race 2026 : event description

The Sulphur Springs Trail Race takes place on May 23 and 24, 2026 at Morgan Firestone Arena in Ancaster, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The event uses a looped 20 km course inside Dundas Valley Conservation Area, an old Carolinian forest.

Each 20 km loop includes over 500 m (about 1500 ft) of elevation gain and runs mostly on double-track trail. The course is supported by four aid stations supplying water and Skratch Labs hydration. Long-distance aid stations provide food throughout day and night and port-a-potties are available at each aid station and in larger numbers at the start/finish. This is a cup-free event; participants must bring their own reusable container.

Event formats cover a wide range of distances and team options:

  • 100 Mile Solo (8 x 20K laps, 160 km / 100 miles)
  • 100K (5 x 20K loops)
  • 50 Mile (4 x 20K loops)
  • 50K (1 x 10K plus 2 x 20K loops)
  • 20K
  • 10K
  • 100 Mile Team Relay (maximum 8 runners)
  • 50 Mile Night Relay (maximum 4 runners)

The 100K and 100 Mile are Western States qualifying races for 2027 with specific finish-time requirements to earn a ballot. The First Blaze Trail Race on July 11, 2026 uses the Toronto Bruce Trail with 50 km, 27.5 km and 10 km options. Courses follow white blazes, include technical terrain and the field is limited to 200 runners.

Trail races at Area 8 Conservation Area on July 18, held on trails around a former limestone quarry, with distances from 1 km for kids to 24.2 km and course maps and aid stations provided.

Trail race at Dundas Valley Conservation Area with a 7 km loop and options from a single loop to 100 miles plus 6 12 and 24 hour timed events. Aid station, cup free policy, medals and a 100 mile belt buckle.

Raid the City is a three hour urban adventure run for teams of two in Hamilton. Teams use maps and a smartphone app to score checkpoints across trails, roads, alleys and parks while travelling on foot.
