Sulphur Springs Trail Race

Hamilton, Canada • 23 May 2026

The races

The Sulphur Springs Trail Race takes place over two days in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area in Ancaster, Ontario. The primary format is a 20 km loop repeated multiple times depending on the chosen distance. The available distances are.

  • 10 km and 20 km (on Sunday)
  • 50 km, 50 mile, 100 km, and 100 mile (on Saturday)
  • Team relays for 50 miles (night) and 100 miles (max 8 runners)

The course and organization

The race uses a looped course with over 500 meters of elevation gain per 20 km loop, on mostly wide (double track) trails. Four fully stocked aid stations are located on the course. The event is cup-free: participants must bring their own container for fluids.

The event is a qualifying race for the 2027 Western States Endurance Run (WSER). Finishers of the 100 mile in under 30 hours and the 100 km in under 18 hours earn a ballot for the entry lottery. It is Canada's oldest ultra trail event, dating back to 1992.

The event is held at the Morgan Firestone Arena in Ancaster, Hamilton. Runners can join a waitlist if races are sold out. Poles are permitted for distances of 50 miles and longer. Pets and strollers are not allowed on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
