Sulphur Springs Trail Race 2026

The Sulphur Springs Trail Race is held within the Dundas Valley Conservation Area in Ancaster, Ontario. Established in 1992, it stands as Ontario's longest-running ultra-trail event. The course features a beautiful Carolinian forest setting with a mostly double-track trail network characterized by cascading waterfalls and local wildlife.

The race utilizes a 20 km looped course with over 500 meters (1,500 feet) of elevation gain per loop. Participants can choose from a wide variety of distances scheduled over two days:

  • 100 Mile (Solo and Team Relay for 2-8 runners)
  • 100 km
  • 50 Mile (Solo and Night Relay for 2-4 runners)
  • 50 km
  • 20 km
  • 10 km

The 100 Mile and 100 km events serve as qualifying races for the Western States Endurance Run (WSER), provided specific finishing time requirements are met. Runners are supported by four fully stocked aid stations along the course. As a sustainable event, it operates on a cup-free basis, requiring participants to bring their own hydration vessels. Trekking poles are permitted only for athletes competing in distances of 50 Miles or longer.

The event is based at the Morgan Firestone Arena in Hamilton. For the longest distance, a dedicated "100 Mile Club" area is available for solo runners to store gear and rest between their eight laps. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
