Route
The route begins with a narrow, very steep climb out of Stoney Wood and then crosses Middle Peak Quarry, continuing to pastureland and fields toward Middleton Top and the winding house of the old Cromford and High Peak Railway. It crosses the B5035 and the High Peak Trail before reaching the area of wind turbines near Ryder Point Quarry, and includes steep climbs to the track between Ryder Point and Brassington Moor Quarry and up to the trig point on Harborough Rocks.
After the trig point there is a descent to the High Peak Trail, followed by about two miles that are generally downhill. The course runs along the flat High Peak Trail, across Carsington Pastures and steeply down into Carsington village with views of Carsington Water. The final section follows a road past Hopton Hall, includes a last major climb toward Middleton Top, then a downhill finish through Middle Peak Quarry and along the edge of Stoney Wood.
