Stuart Learmouth Undulator

The Stuart Learmouth Undulator is a BM class fell race held in Wirksworth in the Peak District on 27 September 2026. The course measures 13.7 km (8.5 miles) with about 457 m of ascent. The event is open only to people aged over 18 on the day and requires advance entry for a fee of £10. There are no entries on the day, no refunds and no substitution of entrants. Competitors are asked to bring their own cup for water to reduce single use plastic.

The route starts in Stoney Wood, land reclaimed from Stonecroft Quarry. The start is narrow and steep and the early section climbs to the top of the quarry. The course then crosses Middle Peak Quarry and moves onto pasture and a series of fields toward Middleton Top and the winding house at the top of the Middleton Incline. After crossing a village road the route follows the High Peak Trail across open farmland and passes wind turbines near Ryder Point Quarry.

Runners climb to the trig point on Harborough Rocks then descend through crags to the High Peak Trail. The middle section includes a flat stretch on the former railway track then runs across Carsington Pastures with views of Carsington Water before returning toward Middleton Top. The final mile runs down through Middle Peak Quarry and along the edge of Stoney Wood to the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
