Stairs for Strides 5K
Stairs for Strides is a community event in Wheeling, WV that supports NAMI Greater Wheeling and raises awareness for mental health. The event takes place at Heritage Port, 1200 Greater Wheeling Trail, and includes running and walking options. Participation for the 5K and the Family Friendly Mental Health Mile includes a sweat head band, wristbands, and a participation coin. The listed registration fee is $25.00.
Available distances and formats:
- 5K Run: includes a climb of 350 stairs.
- 5K Competitive Walk: 5K competitive walking option.
- Family Friendly Mental Health Mile: one mile with no stairs.
Packet pickup is available before the event at NAMI downtown Wheeling office, 1035 Chapline Street, and on race day at Heritage Port. A food truck festival at Heritage Port takes place the same day with over 20 food trucks and vendors and information on local mental health resources.
Awards are offered for both the 5K Run/Walk and the 5K Competitive Walk. Awards include Top 3 overall female and male, and Top 3 female and male in each age group: 14-Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
