Sri Chinmoy 6-Hour Race - San Diego
The event takes place on 8 November at Miramar Reservoir (Scripps Lake Drive) in San Diego. It is a timed six hour event held on a paved 5 mile loop with gentle rolling hills and permanent quarter mile markers around the lake. Athletes move clockwise around the loop and must remain on the asphalt course.
Each 5 mile lap is chip timed and splits are provided every loop. Additional mileage in the final 30 minutes is manually credited if a participant reaches one of three remote aid stations located about 1 mile, 2.5 miles, and 3.5 miles from the start/finish area. Participants may stop before the six hour limit and notify race staff or counters when they leave the course.
The course includes four aid stations, a main staging area with water, Skratch electrolyte drink and a buffet style selection of food, and three smaller stations offering water and simple snacks. There are permanent restrooms near the main parking area and multiple portable toilets along the loop. A gear area is provided at the main staging area for lap access, and a lunch is provided to participants at the conclusion of the event.
The race is limited to 75 participants, is sanctioned by USATF, and awards are given by age categories including Open, 50 to 59, and 60 and over. Participants receive T shirts, medals, and certificates. Entry is open to ages 18 to 99, with parental permission required for younger runners.
