Sri Chinmoy San Diego 6-Hour Race
The event is a timed six hour running and walking race held on a paved 5 mile loop around Lake Miramar (Miramar Reservoir) in San Diego. Laps and total mileage are recorded with chip timing; additional distance covered in the final 30 minutes is credited manually if the participant reaches one of three remote aid stations located about 1 mile, 2.5 miles, and 3.5 miles from the Start/Finish area. Permanent wooden markers appear every 1/4 mile along the loop.
The course follows the asphalt road around the lake in a clockwise direction, includes gentle rolling hills, and must be run on the measured asphalt surface. The loop is shared with other park users; runners, walkers and bicyclists must stay to the right of the yellow center line. Four aid stations support participants: one main station at the staging area and three smaller stations on the course. Aid includes water, an electrolyte drink, simple foods and portable toilets. A secure gear area is available at the staging area and a lunch is provided at the conclusion of the race.
The event is sanctioned by USA Track and Field and is limited to 75 runners. Medals and certificates are provided to all participants, with awards in Open, 50 to 59, and 60 and over age divisions. Parking for participants is off-site but within easy walking distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
