Squatchy Leftovers is a trail event held at South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, New Jersey. The event uses a 5K loop course and offers multiple race distances.
- 50K : ten 5K loops, ~2,890 ft elevation gain
- 25K : five 5K loops, ~1,445 ft elevation gain
- 10K : two 5K loops, ~578 ft elevation gain
- 5K : one loop, ~289 ft elevation gain

The 5K loop is approximately 84% wide carriage roads and 16% technical singletrack. Notable features include a rocky 200+ ft descent near mile one, a 100 ft climb around mile 2.5, and a final mile of singletrack with rocks and roots. Terrain mixes hard-packed carriage trails and technical singletrack; organizers provide a trail conditions report before the race.
Cutoff policy: the 50K and 25K have an 8 hour 30 minute cutoff; 10K and 5K also have an 8 hour 30 minute cutoff. There are no on-course cutoffs.
Aid station and facilities are located at the start/finish area and are passed each loop (every 3.1 miles). Aid offerings include hot food, snacks, water, Skratch Hydration, and a range of gluten-free and vegan options. Portable toilets, including an ADA unit, and private changing tents are available. A quiet "Jackalope Tent" provides a low-stimulation space.
Accessibility and rules: pacers/guides are allowed for athletes over 60 and for athletes with disabilities; adaptive athletes have trailside support. Events are cupless; personal cup or bottle is required. Dogs are not permitted. The event is capped at 400 participants across all distances and typically sells out. Charity bibs are available that require raising or donating $350 by November 25. Refunds are not offered; deferral policies and special deferrals for pregnancy, adoption, postpartum, and community care are available under specified conditions.
Course marking uses bright neon ribbons and large red directional arrows. Trekking poles are allowed; grippy shoes and winter traction are recommended for rocky and leaf-covered sections. Banditing is prohibited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
