Squatchy Leftovers is a trail race held on November 29, 2025 at South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, New Jersey (374 Walker Road). Distances offered include:
- 50K
- 25K
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile Kids Run
The event partners with the nonprofit Bigger Than The Trail. Charity bibs are available after the race sells out; selecting a charity bib requires raising or donating $350 by November 26. Registration closes on November 28 at 11:59 PM ET. The event has sold out in previous years.
Course and policies
All distances use a 5K loop. Loop counts are: 50K - 10 loops, 25K - 5 loops, 10K - 2 loops, 5K - 1 loop. The 5K loop has 289 ft of gain and combines wide dirt or gravel carriage roads with technical singletrack. Notable features include a rocky 200+ ft descent early in the loop, a 100 ft climb near mile 2.5, and a singletrack final mile with rocks and roots. Portapottys are within walking distance of the trailhead. Participants receive a handcrafted wood medal and a finishers' item. Pacers or guides are allowed for runners over age 60 and for athletes with disabilities; pacers are otherwise restricted. Dogs are not permitted.
