Squatchy Hooky: Lake to Summit

Squatchy Hooky: Lake to Summit takes place June 5, 2027, at Rockland Lake State Park in Nyack, New York. The event starts and finishes at Parking Field #4 and is capped at 200 participants across both distances. A 3.5 hour cutoff applies to all events; 10K participants must maintain an approximate 33 minute 45 second per mile pace to meet the cutoff.

Distances offered:

  • 5K: Flat paved loop around Rockland Lake, fully accessible with a wheelchair division.
  • 10K: Rugged mountain trail on the Long Path to Hook Mountain Summit, 1,300 ft elevation gain.

The 5K follows a smooth paved path with wide views of the lake, gentle terrain, and permanent accessible restrooms along the loop. There are no aid stations on the 5K. The 10K climbs rocky ledges and ridgeline terrain to a summit with 360 degree views of the Hudson River and Hudson Valley. The 10K includes steep climbs, cliff edges, and sections with dangerous drop offs beyond the trail. One on course aid station called 9W is located at mile 4.25; it will provide water, snacks, and Skratch and is not crew accessible due to limited roadside access.

Public transit options include Rockland Coaches buses from Port Authority and Metro North to Ossining followed by a local connection. Pacers or guides are permitted for runners age 60 and athletes with disabilities with prior registration. Permanent accessible restrooms are available at Parking Field #4.
