Spring Fling 600
The Spring Fling 600 is an annual trail running event hosted by the CT Trailmixers at YMCA Camp Sloper in Southington, Connecticut. The eighth edition of the race features a roughly three-mile trail loop with varied terrain and scenery. The course is well marked and transitions through the natural landscape of the camp, starting and finishing at the main pavilion.
Participants can choose from multiple event formats:
- Spring Fling 600: A timed event where runners complete as many loops as possible within 600 minutes (10 hours).
- Spring Fling 6 Mile: A fixed-distance race consisting of two laps of the trail course.
- Fling Fanatic Series: A registration option for those participating in both the Spring Fling 600 and the Fall Fling 400.
The event utilizes chip timing to track laps and total time, with a monitor displaying live lap counts at the start and finish area. In the 10 hour event, only loops finished within the time limit are recorded. Participants are permitted to take breaks during the day and return to the course as needed.
An aid station is available to support runners throughout the day. All participants receive a finisher's medal and a branded gift. Awards are presented to the top male, female, and non-binary competitors in both distances. Registration is capped at 150 participants for the 600-minute race and 50 for the 6-mile race. Proceeds from the event support local organizations and a scholarship program that provides running shoes to students in need. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
