Song Sparrow Bridge 10K at Northern State

Sedro-Woolley, United States • 14 Feb 2026

Event Overview

The Song Sparrow Bridge 10K at Northern State is a free, untimed running event held at Northern State Recreation Area in Sedro-Woolley. The event is intended as a celebration of the new trails built by the Skagit Trail Builders. There is no entry fee, no timing clock, and no race bibs.

The Course

The route is a 10 km trail run. Participants cross two handcrafted bridges over Hill Creek and run through forested areas with cedar, Douglas fir, and spruce trees. A second event, a 4 Mile run, walk, or ruck, is also offered on the same day.

The course is described as well-marked with mile markers in place. The 10K route involves a loop where runners cross the Pumphouse Bridge twice and the Song Sparrow Bridge twice. The route includes sections on farm roads and Skagit Trail Builder trails. Specific directional signs (blue and yellow) are used at key junctions.

Logistics

The event starts with a traditional mass start. The start and finish areas are on Helmick Road near a cannery and farm barns to avoid a wet field. Post-run refreshments include warm beverages and muffins.

Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
