The Snowy Owl 10 mile is a trail race at York River State Park in Williamsburg, VA on January 4, 2026. The course covers a mix of single track, fire road dirt trails and a short paved section. The total elevation gain is about 600 feet.
Course
The course includes about five miles of technical single track, roughly 0.75 mile on paved road, and the remainder on dirt fire roads. Features noted include rocky sections, twisting single track, a boardwalk with views, and faster fire-road segments.

- 1.5-3.5 mile Single track trail (Marl Ravine)
- 3.5-4.5 mile Fire road dirt trail (Backbone/Powhatan Forks East)
- 4.5-6 mile Single track trail (John Blair Trail C)
- 6-7.5 mile Fire road dirt trail (Majestic Oak)
- 7.5-8.5 mile Single track trail (John Blair Trail A)
- 8.5-9.25 mile Fire road dirt trail (Pamunkey/Backbone)
- 9.25-10 mile Paved down hill (Entry Road to Finish at playground picnic shelter)
Aid stations and cutoff
There are three aid stations with water and light snacks at Marl Ravine (1.5 mile and 9 mile), Riverview (3.5 mile), and Majestic Oak (6 mile). The event has a 4 hour cutoff.
Services, awards and beneficiary
Packet pick-up is on race morning. Finish-line offerings include hot coffee, cocoa and snacks. All finishers receive a ceramic medal. Registered participants receive a race logo item, a winter hat and free park entry; long-sleeved shirts are available to purchase with an order deadline of December 15, 2025. Awards are given to overall top three and top three in 10-year age groups for male and female competitors. The race benefits AWARE, which will have representatives onsite with owls and educational information.
Weather policy
If dangerous weather is forecast, the race may be moved to Sunday, January 11, 2026. If the date is changed for that reason, there are no refunds or deferrals to the following year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
