The Sliabhriadh mountain race takes place on Sunday, 26th April 2026, near Kilfinnane in County Limerick.

Course Information

The main race distance is 15.30 km with a total climb of 549 meters. A 5.00 km short course is also available. The event is marked as having 'Easy Terrain' with an ascent between 200 and 500 meters. The route is fully marked and use of GPS devices is permitted.

The race starts across the road from the community centre. The initial section passes an old lime kiln and involves crossing stiles and steps before joining a forestry fire road. The route follows this road before turning onto a narrow path leading to the summit of Slievereagh, marked by a trig pillar and communications mast, at approximately the 3 km point.

Mandatory Kit

All runners must bring a specific set of mandatory kit (Level B - Standard), including a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or equivalent. The items required to be carried during the race will be confirmed on the day based on conditions. Failure to have the required items may result in denied entry or disqualification, and random checks may be carried out.

Logistics

Registration and the race start is at 'Davy's Cottage,' directly opposite Ballinvreena Community Hall, between Kilfinnane and Garryspillane. Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. The short course/junior race starts at 10:15 a.m.

Online entries open on Monday, 20th April 2026 at 21:00 and close on Saturday, 25th April at 18:00. The entry fee is €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The entry limit is 250 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
