Salomon Skyline Scotland overview

Salomon Skyline Scotland is a mountain and trail running event first held in 2015. The event moved to Kinlochleven in 2016 and expanded to nine races. It has featured in international race series and championships and has hosted the Skyrunning World Championships. The event has attracted more than 2,000 participants from as many as 50 countries each year and has produced millions of pounds of economic impact for the Lochaber region.

Races, location, and event format

The event returned in 2025 with a redesigned programme of seven races. Races are staged at Nevis Range, near Fort William, and all races take place on a single day. Race formats include skyrunning, ultra, and low-level trail races, with distances ranging from 10 km to 100 km. One race, the Ben Nevis Skyline, was selected as a Golden Trail World Series qualifier in 2025. The event offers live commentary and big screens, live streaming and online tracking, a partner expo, local food and drink traders, a grand prize giving ceremony, and an evening party. Run 31 miles through wild Glen Lyon, Perthshire, with about 3,500 ft of climbing, loch loops and river crossings for a true Highland adventure. Mostly off road, this scenic ultra awards 2 UTMB points and finishes back in Glen Lyon.

Tackle a scenic 15.5 mile off road loop around Loch Lyon in Perthshire, with a steep climb early and about 1,500 ft of ascent. Expect several river crossings, a finish at Glen Lyon Dam and on site camping the night before.
