Skunk Hollow Sneaker Chase & Backyard Ultra, Casper Mountain, July 18, 2026

The event takes place at the Casper Mountain Trails Center (9301 Casper Mountain Rd, Casper, WY). Participants choose between an approximately eight mile race made of two laps and a Backyard Ultra that uses the same loop run every hour until one runner remains.

The loop is set on forested cross country ski and single-track trails within the Natrona County Parks Multi-Use Trail System. One lap measures about 4.15 to 4.20 miles with roughly 450 feet of elevation gain and elevations on the course range from about 7,800 to 8,100 feet.

Distances:

  • Approximately 8 miles composed of two 4.17 mile laps.
  • Backyard Ultra using a 4.17 mile lap run hourly.

Event rules and services include alternating lap direction for the eight mile race by year parity, and a coin toss to determine lap direction each lap for the Backyard Ultra. The eight mile race allows trekking poles; the Backyard Ultra does not. No non participants or pacers are allowed on course and personal aid is limited to the start and finish aid station area. All eight mile participants receive finisher awards and age group awards for top three male and female in 39 and under and 40 and up. Food and beverages are provided after the eight mile race. Online registration closes July 16 with limited late registration at packet pickup July 17. Only the first 75 combined registrants receive the event souvenir. There are no refunds or rollovers.
