The event is a lap-based trail race held at Lowell Park, 2114 Lowell Park Road, Dixon, IL. It offers multiple timed distance options and a relay team category. Runners complete repeated 2.25-mile laps with the direction alternating every lap (forward first lap, reverse second lap and so on). The course is single track through woods with a few paved road crossings and about 166 feet of elevation gain per lap.

Only participants who finish within the time limit receive the event gift items. Gift items include hooded sweatshirts, trucker hats, and tees allocated by distance or relay team. Awards for male and female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are given for the 314, 524, and 806 distances, with 1st overall for relay teams. Laps are recorded manually at the start/finish and participants must ensure volunteers mark each lap. An aid station at the start/finish provides water, coffee, and assorted snacks; additional food may be available as provided by the aid station crew.
