The SkunkApe Trail Race takes place on March 27, 2027, at Lowell Park, 2114 Lowell Park Road, Dixon, IL. The event offers multiple timed distances on a looped trail course.

Entry fees vary by distance and by day of registration. Advance fees are $50 for the 806, $40 for the 524, $30 for the 314, and $150 for the 806 Relay. Day of event fees are higher. Registration closes March 25 at 11:59 PM CT.
Only participants who finish within the stated time limits receive event gift items. Gifts listed for past events include a hooded sweatshirt and trucker hat for the 806, tees and trucker caps for other distances, and team items for the relay. Awards are given to the first three male and female finishers for each distance, and a first overall award for relay teams.
The course is an alternating-direction 2.25 mile loop, switching direction each lap. It is primarily single track through woods with a few paved road crossings and about 166 feet of elevation per lap. Laps are tracked manually at the start and finish; participants must ensure volunteers record each lap before continuing.
The aid station at the start finish provides water, coffee, and basic snacks. Past offerings included a variety of hot foods and baked goods. Participants may bring items to share.
