SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 40
The Lamplighter 40 is an all night trail running event across the North York Moors with a circular route starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall. The event runs from sunset to sunrise on the event date, with registration and number collection taking place about an hour before last light.
The route follows marked tracks, open moorland and forestry and includes a mix of cairns, trig points and other checkpoint locations. There will be marker flags, a GPX file and a master map to assist navigation. Each entrant receives a tracker. Refreshments, water, fizzy pop and snacks are supplied at multiple checkpoint locations, and there is one indoor checkpoint offering pizza and hot and cold drinks.
Entrants must be at least 18 years old. Entry options are solo or pair with fees stated for each; entries are limited to 40 participants. The advertised total time for the event is circa 12 hours. Finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and there are mementos for the first female and first male finishers. An optional event technical T shirt is available for purchase at a stated price. Limited parking is available at the village hall for marshals, with additional parking in the village. Entrants may rest in the village hall before travelling home.
Required kit must be carried by each entrant and includes a map covering the North Yorkshire Moors, a working compass and whistle, a head-torch plus a spare torch or batteries, an emergency bivvy bag, spare hat and gloves, spare warm long-sleeved top, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams or suitable alternative, a battery pack and charging lead, a charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml of water or sports drink, at least 60 grams of emergency food and a cup for drinks at checkpoints.
