Lamplighter 40

Lamplighter 40 is a night trail run across the North York Moors organised by SilverBackTrails. The event runs over a route that starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall and takes place on the night of 20/21 June 2026. The 40 mile option continues through the night to greet the sunrise.

The course visits triangulation pillars and other checkpoint locations and follows sections of established tracks. There are refreshments, water, fizzy pop and snacks at two locations on the course, plus one indoor checkpoint between them. Checkpoints will offer a staffed welcome for participants.

Routes will be marked with some flagging, and each entrant receives a route GPX file and a tracker to assist with navigation. All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and there are mementos for the first female and first male finishers.

Two route distances are offered:

  • 40 miles
  • 20 miles

The event is presented as a low key night run across moorland terrain with basic on-course support and navigation aids provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
