SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 40
The Lamplighter 40 is an all night trail running event across the North York Moors, held on 20 to 21 June 2026. The circular route starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall and is run from sunset to sunrise. The planned duration is circa 12 hours and entrants must be 18 or older.
The course follows good tracks, open moorland and forestry and includes triangulation pillars, cairns, crosses and other checkpoint locations. There will be marker flags on parts of the route and a GPX file and a master map will be provided. Each entrant receives a tracker. One indoor checkpoint will serve pizza and hot and cold drinks, and there will be refreshments, water, fizzy pop and snacks at multiple checkpoint locations.
Entrants are limited to 40. Entry options are solo or pair with fees published as £50 for solo and £95 for a pair. An optional event technical T shirt is available via the club shop for £18. All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and there are mementos for the first female and first male finishers. Participants may rest in the village hall before travelling home.
Mandatory kit requirements include a map of the North Yorkshire Moors, working compass and whistle, headtorch plus spare torch or batteries, emergency bivvy, spare hat and gloves, spare warm top, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams unless Paramo, battery pack and charging lead, a charged mobile phone with the race director contact and recommended location apps, at least 500 ml of water, at least 60 g of emergency food and a cup for drinks at checkpoints.
