SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 20

The Lamplighter 20 is a night trail run of approximately 20 miles on a circular route starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall. The course crosses open moorland, forestry and good tracks across the North York Moors and includes triangulation pillars and other checkpoints. The event is organised by SilverBack Trails and runs from sunset to sunrise to provide a continuous night navigation experience.

Each entrant will receive a tracker, a GPX file and a master map to assist with navigation. There will be refreshments, water and snacks at multiple checkpoint locations, including one indoor checkpoint. Hot food will be available at the finish and vegetarian and gluten free options are offered. All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and there are mementos for the first male and first female finishers. An optional technical T shirt is available to purchase through the club shop.

Entrants register and collect numbers before last light and then have 6.5 hours to return to Goathland Village Hall. Entry is open for solo runners or pairs, entries are limited to 40, and the minimum age is 18. Each entrant must carry mandatory kit, which includes a map covering the North Yorkshire Moors, a working compass and whistle, a head torch plus spare torch or batteries, an emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproofs with taped seams unless Paramo, a battery pack and charging lead, a charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml of water, at least 60 grams of emergency food, and a cup for drinks at checkpoints.
