Event Overview

The Sierra Vista Trail Runs is an annual trail running event. It is organized by the Southern New Mexico Trail Alliance and functions as the organization's primary fundraiser. The 2026 event will be its 14th annual running.

Races and Location

The event offers several trail running distances:

  • 1-mile kids fun run (free entry)

All races will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026. They will start at the Sierra Norte trailhead off Dripping Springs Road, near Las Cruces, New Mexico. There is a finish cutoff time of 5:00 PM.

Additional Information

Registration for the races includes a race shirt or a pair of socks featuring a design from a local artist. The top three finishers in all distances and genders will receive awards. Post-race food will be available for participants.

Runners are encouraged to donate an old pair of shoes at packet pickup or on race day. Donated shoes will be given to the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Join the third annual Run for Ag at the Las Cruces Dam Open Space Trail for a 5k race or a 1 mile fun run. Support local agricultural education while enjoying a scenic route through the wetlands behind the Lohman dam.

Test your persistence at the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument in this last runner standing event. Complete 4.167 mile loops every hour until only one participant remains in the scenic New Mexico desert.
