Shropshire Historic 50K 2027

The Shropshire Historic 50K is a measured long-distance run that starts at Telford Town Park and finishes at The Quarry Park in Shrewsbury, SY1 1JA. The route passes a sequence of historic sites across Shropshire and runs into central Shrewsbury.

The course includes The Silkin Way, Ironbridge, Buildwas Abbey, the birthplace of the modern Olympics, Much Wenlock Abbey, Wroxeter Roman City, Attingham Park, Shrewsbury Prison and Shrewsbury Castle. The organizer lists professional chip timing, five nutrition stations on the route, free photo downloads and a bespoke finish medal. A technical running T-shirt is available at additional cost. Routes are officially measured.

For 2027 the organisers will make a few route adjustments to remove some of the tougher trail sections. The event is part of a series: completing the Historic Shropshire 50K, the Church Stretton 50K (Shrewsbury to Church Stretton) and the Shrewsbury 50K (Church Stretton to Shrewsbury) qualifies participants for a special series medal. The event is promoted by Run The Distance and finishes at The Quarry Park Shrewsbury next to the Hercules statue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
