Wild Deer Events stages a series of festive trail races at Sherwood Pines, Kings Clipstone, Edwinstowe, Mansfield NG21 9JL on 13 December 2026. The event offers multiple distances, family-friendly activities, and on-site facilities within the Forestry England site.

Sherwood Pines sits within about 3,300 acres of Nottinghamshire woodland and includes activity trails, play areas, bike hire, wild running and mountain biking trails. The venue surroundings are described as wooded pine forest with historical links to Robin Hood.

Distances and age information

  • Family 1 Mile - children aged 3 to 14; accompanying adult free; not canicross friendly.
  • 5 km Trail Run - suitable for ages 11 and above; canicross friendly.
  • 10 km Trail Run - suitable for ages 15 and above; canicross friendly.

Canicross rules allow one well controlled dog per runner in the 5 km and 10 km events. Chip timing is provided by Timing Up North and race results are recorded electronically.

Finishers of the 5 km and 10 km events receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, mince pies, chocolates and drinks. Family 1 Mile finishers receive a medal, a drink and a selection box. An optional event T shirt is available for an additional fee. Subsidised car parking is available on site and is paid at Forestry England pay machines. Take on the Dovedale Big Daddy on 1 February 2026, an AL fell race in the Peak District covering 20.4 km with 1370 m ascent and nine steep climbs through the Manifold and Dovedale valleys. Entries close 29 January and are limited to 250.

A fell race on 1 February 2026 across Bradgate, Broombriggs and Beacon Hill Country Parks, covering about 14.5 miles on rough footpaths. Entry is limited to 350 and pre-entry is required.
