Serpent Trail Ultra Run
This guided group run starts and finishes in Haslemere and follows sections of the Serpent Trail and the Sussex Border Path. The route goes toward Blackdown and includes the Temple of the Winds lookout with views of the South Downs. Runners pass across lush fields, ancient woodland, rare heathland, valleys and a variety of trails, with a refreshment break partway through.
The event is run as a group rather than a race. Participants are advised to have completed at least 22 miles in training and to be able to sustain an average pace of 10 min per mile or 6 min per km on trail surfaces for prolonged periods. Ultra running first timers are encouraged to attend.
A full kit list is provided to participants. Salomon Sense Ride 2 and Speedcross 5 trail shoes are available to test during the event subject to availability. At the finish participants may receive an alcohol free beer provided by Days Brewing Company subject to availability.
The organiser is Running Adventures, based in Guildford, Surrey. Haslemere offers car parks near the meet point and a nearby train station on the main line between London and Portsmouth.
