Secret Santa Series - Brecon Beacons

The Secret Santa Series is a winter trail event based at Cwmdu Hall in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It offers multiple off-road distances that follow mountain ridges and sections of the Beacons Way, with varied, technical terrain and significant ascent and descent.

Distances

• Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
• 10 Mile
• 14 km

Courses include rocky paths, boggy moorland, narrow single-track trails and occasional forest sections. Routes head west from Cwmdu towards Bwlch Mountain, follow the Beacons Way until a split at Mynydd Llangors, and the half marathon continues via Cockit Hill with views of a lake and the central Beacons before climbing toward Cefn Moel and returning to the finish. All distances are fully waymarked and supported by back runners.

Event support includes well stocked checkpoints with a range of food and drink items and options for dietary requirements, a full mobile medical unit and support runners on the course. Facilities at HQ include refreshments and toilets. Mandatory kit is required and checked at registration; examples listed by the organiser include waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest, capacity to carry 1 litre of fluid, food, telephone, hat and gloves, trail footwear, first aid kit, foil blanket and whistle.

Extras and event features include bespoke medals, hand crafted Welsh slate trophies for top finishers, online results, a photo gallery, GPX downloads, a festive secret-santa gift exchange and a request to bring an unwrapped gift for ages 0–18 to support local families.
