Durham 5 in 5 Days - Day 3

Day 3 of the Dun Holm 5 in 5 Days Challenge takes place in Durham, based at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet. The route runs along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is classified as a trail run. The course is fully signed.

The event is organised as a seven hour Time Challenge that allows participants to choose their own distance. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km. A full lap is 7 km (4.37 miles) but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. A 3 km turn point and a 5 km turn point are marked within the lap to accommodate UK Athletics age rules. Typical lap counts used for recognised distances are: three laps for a half marathon, six for a marathon and seven or more for an ultra; a 50 km option is also offered.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are issued for half marathon distance and above. Goody bags are provided, with a vegan option. An aid table and drinks are available at the start/finish of each lap. Toilets and changing facilities are at race HQ and a bag drop is available but unstaffed. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Members receive reduced entry prices, guaranteed entry and a mini pin, and UK Athletics affiliated club members receive a small entry discount. Participate in a 9 km fell race through the Durham countryside north of Stanhope. This event is part of the North East Fell Running Championships and features a 300 m climb for runners aged 18 and over.

A muddy 5 km obstacle course at Town Moor, Newcastle on 11 July 2026 with climbs, crawls and slides. The event has a £50 fundraising target, labelled entry fees, and limited on-site parking and accessibility.

The The Sting Backyard Ultra will take place in Richmond (North Yorkshire) on Saturday 11 July 2026. You can run between 4 and 7 kilometers.

Chapelfell Top is an AS graded 7 km fell race in St. John’s Chapel, Weardale featuring 400 m of ascent to the 703 m summit and a return on the same route. The event is organised by Durham Fell Runners and run under FRA rules.
