Event format and distances

This is a 7 hour timed event where participants choose how many laps to run. The minimum distance is 3 km. A regular lap is 7 km (4.37 miles) and may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop if course conditions require. A 3 km turn point and a 5 km turn point are provided within the lap to allow compliance with age rules. Distances noted include:

  • Half marathon = 3 laps
  • Marathon = 6 laps
  • Ultra = 7 laps or more
  • 50 km option available

Minimum age is 12 years. Runners aged 18 or 19 may run up to 45 km; anyone running over 45 km must be at least 20 years old.

Course, facilities and entry details

The course runs along a stretch of the River Thames and is fully signed. Surfaces are mainly well made paths and tarmac with a short grass section; road shoes are suitable. Aid and drinks tables are at the start/finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items. Participants who complete at least 3 km receive a finisher medal and a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. Distance pins are issued for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra distances. Toilets and changing facilities are at race headquarters, which also has a cafe. Bag drop is unmanned and items are left at the participant’s risk. Parking is in a pay-on-exit car park at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds. Maximum entries 300; entries close 02/07/2026. Trail runs nearby

Take to flat, scenic trails through Alexandra Gardens beside Windsor Castle with chip timing and friendly post race goodies. Choose 10K or half marathon, enjoy well marked routes, free photos and an event village for food and drinks.

Trail running on 31 January 2026 at Hound House Road in Surrey with 10 km and 15 km routes over hilly mixed terrain. Parking, toilets and refreshments are available; entries close 29 January 2026.

Guided 10 km trail run around the Devil's Punchbowl in Hindhead, with summer sunset runs and headtorch group night runs in darker months. Social pace, great views and the chance to try trail gear.

The Pilgrim Challenge will take place in Farnham from Saturday 7 February 2026 to Sunday 8 February 2026. You can run 66 miles.
