Event overview
The Pilgrim Challenge is a two-day ultra event covering 66 miles along a celebrated section of the North Downs Way. The route passes through woodlands, rolling fields and villages on a historic trail once used by pilgrims to Canterbury. The event takes place in early February and is run on winter trail terrain that can include snow, ice, mud and bright conditions. The course is waymarked and GPX files are provided.
Logistics and support
The event includes an overnight stay in a local school hall and evening speakers. Organisers provide luggage transfers, hot meals, aid stations and signage along the route. A Course Manager and a fully qualified medical crew support the event. Compulsory kit includes a fully charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml of water, a waterproof jacket and a head torch if a competitor may finish after dark; additional items may be required depending on weather. Mid-event minibus shuttles run to three local hotels, and parking is available at Sandy Farm Business Park for weekend participants (gates are locked overnight).
