Saturn 7 Hour Time Challenge - Gilesgate

SATURN - GNR & Time Turner 2026 - Durham

This is a 7 hour Time Challenge event held on Sunday 30 August 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. The event uses a signed trail course along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and does not require navigational experience. Entrant limit is 300 and the event is subject to UK Athletics age restrictions; minimum age is 12 years.

Distances are lap based and flexible, with options defined as follows:

• Minimum distance: 3 km
• Full lap: 4.37 miles (7 km), may be a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions
• Half marathon: 3 laps
• Marathon: 6 laps
• 50 km and ultra: 7 laps or more

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are provided for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra results and one pin is attached to the medal ribbon. A goody bag is provided to finishers with a vegan goody bag option. An aid and drinks table is available at the start/finish of each lap with a selection of snacks and vegan options.

Facilities at race HQ include toilets and changing. A bag drop is provided near the start/finish but it is not staffed and items are left at the participant's responsibility. Nearby parking options include free on-street and pay and display city centre parking. Transfers are allowed online for £5 up to the day before the event; deferrals to another event are available for an £18 fee. Headphones are permitted.
