Sandia Mountain Shadows Trail Run

The Sandia Mountain Shadows Trail Run is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, and is presented as the 22nd annual edition. The event is based at Piedra Lisa Park, 13101 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM, and offers trail running on routes that pass near the Sandia Mountain foothills and provide views of the Rio Grande Valley, Albuquerque, and occasional hot air balloons.

Event services and recognitions include finisher medals for all 10K and 5K participants, event shirts for all participants, and age-group and overall awards. Course maps are available for the 5K and 10K routes. Race day registration is held at Piedra Lisa Park. Packet pickup is scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2026, from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports, North Towne Plaza, 5901 Wyoming suite R, Albuquerque; out-of-town participants may pick up packets on race morning from 7:00 to 7:45 a.m. To be timed and qualify for awards, participants are asked to keep the timing chip attached to the back of the bib and to wear the bib on the front at all times.

Looped trail event at Oak Flats Group Picnic Area in Cibola National Forest offering short and long loops to create distances from 5k to 30k. The event is self supported and unmarked, with volunteer check in and an honor system for results.

The 30th annual Corrales Ditch Run in Corrales, NM on September 13, 2026 offers 10K and 5K timed races plus a 1K kids fun run, post-race activities including a Search & Rescue challenge, and fundraising for local nonprofits.

A 6-hour trail endurance challenge where runners complete a 5K each hour and must finish each lap to continue. Partial finishers earn patches, full finishers earn a medal, and combined times count toward national ranking and prize awards.

A September community fundraiser at UNM Lobo Football Stadium in Albuquerque offering bike rides, a 5K run/walk, a stadium stair challenge, a children's fun run and a virtual option to raise funds for the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center.
