Oak Flats Picnic Trails

Tijeras, United States • 13 Sep 2025

Oak Flats Picnic Trails is a free, self-supported trail-running event at the Oak Flats Group Picnic Area in Tijeras, New Mexico, within the Cibola National Forest. Runners may tackle 5k to 30k by combining loops of a 3.2-mile short course and a 6.2-mile long course. The looped, clockwise routes switch direction each lap and are not marked, so preregistered GPS data or maps are recommended.

The Start/Finish is a picnic table where an aid volunteer logs times; water and electrolyte options are available, and the event is cupless—bring your own container. Open to all abilities (including dogs) and capped at about 70 participants. Pit toilets are on-site; plan accordingly. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
