Turquoise Trail Ultra
The Turquoise Trail Ultra is a trail running event in Cedar Crest, NM organized by Running Wild Events. The event offers multiple distances and uses the Gutierrez Canyon Open Space as the start and finish area. Overflow parking is at Mountain Christian Church about 0.25 miles north, with a sidewalk to the start area; parking at local businesses is not allowed.
The course consists of an approximately 13K loop around Gutierrez Canyon Open Space with just over 1,000 feet of climbing per lap. Terrain includes smooth single track, rock gardens, and stands of juniper trees. The race is held in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, or sunshine.
There are two aid stations: the start/finish area and an on-course aid station at about 4.6 miles. Available refreshment items include water and Skratch, chips, cookies, bananas, vegetable soup or broth, and a variety of salty and sweet snacks. This is a cup-less event; participants are asked to bring a cup or bottle. A reusable Running Wild cup is available for purchase during packet pickup for $5 (cash or Venmo). The event provides finisher socks rather than medals.
Packet pickup is available Friday at Rumor Brewing and on race day at the start/finish area. The event has a 10 hour course cutoff for all distances and a 7.5 hour cutoff for lap 4 of the 52K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
