Turquoise Trail Ultra
The Turquoise Trail Ultra takes place February 20, 2027, at Gutierrez Canyon Open Space near Cedar Crest, New Mexico. The course follows the historic Turquoise Trail and runs entirely on singletrack through piñon and juniper, with views of the Sandia Mountains and sustained climbing of over 1,000 feet per lap.
Three distances use the same loop:
- 13K : 1 lap, 1,023 ft gain
- 26K : 2 laps, 2,046 ft gain
- 52K : 4 laps, 4,092 ft gain
The 52K has a 10 hour cutoff with a 7.5 hour cutoff for the fourth lap. Aid is available at two stations: the start/finish area and an on-course station at about 4.6 miles. Aid stations are stocked with water, Skratch, chips, cookies, bananas, vegetable soup or broth, and a mix of salty and sweet snacks. The event is cupless; participants should bring a personal cup or bottle or may purchase a reusable cup at packet pickup for $5 (cash or Venmo).
Packet pickup takes place the day before at Rumor Brewing Company in Cedar Crest and on race morning at the start/finish area. Start and finish are in the parking lot off Highway 14, with overflow parking at Mountain Christian Church about 0.25 miles north and a sidewalk to the start. Finishers receive a custom hoodie and finisher socks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
