The event is a trail running event in Silverado, CA, run out of Black Star Canyon in the Trabuco District. The race was rerouted to Black Star Canyon after the Airport Fire; Blue Jay campgrounds remain closed for 2026. The event traces a mix of creekside truck trail, switchbacks and ridge routes through the Mariposa Reserve and along North Main Divide into Skyline Drive and back.

Course notes and elevation The full marathon starts on Black Star Canyon Road, follows the creek, climbs switchbacks into the Mariposa Reserve, reaches the Doppler on N. Main Divide and continues to Skyline Drive before returning. Elevation gain for the marathon is 4,244 feet. The 25k follows the marathon route to the Doppler turnaround. The half follows the canyon and returns after running 1.5 miles past a historic Indian village with 1,773 feet of gain. The 10k follows the same opening section with about 706 feet of gain.
Logistics Multiple aid stations are placed along the course at approximate mileages, including a 10k turnaround and a marathon halfway turnaround at Skyline bottom. There are course cutoffs at key turnaround points. No refunds are offered; entries may be applied to the following year if the event is cancelled due to fire or government action.
