Ryan's Ranch Run takes place at Thousand Hills Ranch in Pismo Beach, California. The event features multiple distances that traverse a working cattle ranch, providing participants with views of rolling ranchland and wide-open spaces. The course consists of mixed terrain, including packed dirt trails and paved roads. Proceeds from the event support the Central Coast Athletics Foundation and 17 Strong.
Race Categories
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 10K: A 6.2-mile route that includes extended trail sections and panoramic views of the ranch.
- 5K: A 3.1-mile course designed for runners and walkers that winds through the ranch property.
- Kids Mile: A 1-mile loop on a well-marked course specifically for younger participants.
Course details and Recognition
The routes are clearly marked and supported by volunteers. The 10K and 5K courses share an initial path before the 10K branches deeper into the ranch property to include more hills and trail sections. For each of the three races, the first 17 overall finishers receive a commemorative cowboy hat. Additionally, the top male and female finishers in the 10K receive prize packages.

The event includes a festival following the races. Attendees can access live music, food, and various local vendors.
