Rut Run 5K
The Rut Run 5K is a 5K (3.1 miles) event held on Fish Hatchery Road and the Fall River Trail in Estes Park, Colorado. The course is predominantly downhill, starting near Fish Hatchery Road and finishing at Performance Park along the River Walk. The route follows a quiet road for the first mile, then continues mostly on a detached multi-use trail for the remaining miles, with a short single-track dirt section of about 100 yards.
The route passes river views, stands of aspen trees, and the historic Elkhorn Lodge. Participants may encounter elk in nearby meadows; wildlife sightings should be observed from a safe distance. Shuttle transportation carries participants from the Estes Park Visitor Center to the start area. Free parking is available at the Estes Park Visitor Center parking structure on Hwy 36. Restrooms are located at the Visitor Center and the Estes Park United Methodist Church.
The event welcomes runners, walkers, strollers, and group-friendly pets. Registration includes a complimentary beer token valid during Elk Fest. Race shirts are available for purchase.
