Running Up for Air - Malans Peak
West Haven, United States • 27-28 Feb 2026
Overview
Running Up for Air - Malans Peak takes place February 27-28, 2026 in Ogden, UT (2985 Buchanan Ave). The event is part of the Up For Air Series, a group of endurance events that direct proceeds to non-profit organizations focused on air quality. Events follow a minimal footprint philosophy and are used to share science-based information about air quality. Options include individual and team formats, including a 24-hour team relay for teams of one to four runners.
Course and format
The event is a winter endurance challenge held on Malans Peak on the east bench of Ogden City. Each lap starts and finishes at the 29th Street Trailhead (29th Street and Buchanan Ave). A lap is approximately 6 miles round trip. Elevation at the start is 4,764 feet and the peak tops out at 6,904 feet, a climb of roughly 2,300 feet. The first 0.75 mile gains about 300 feet before entering Taylor Canyon; the next two miles gain about 2,000 feet to the summit. The route is commonly snow covered in February and can involve ice and wind; spikes or shoe screws are recommended if ice is present. Parking is available at the trailhead and at a church at 27th and Tyler Ave; shuttle service is not provided.
