Course and format
The event is a winter endurance challenge on Malans Peak on the east bench of Ogden City. Laps start and finish at the 29th Street Trailhead (29th Street and Buchanan Ave). Parking is available at the trailhead and at a church at 27th and Tyler Ave; shuttle service will not be provided. The format offers 3, 6, 12, and 24 hour options for individuals or teams, including a 24 hour team relay for one to four runners.
The route begins at about 4,764 feet and climbs roughly 2,300 feet to a summit near 6,904 feet. Each lap is about six miles. The first 0.75 mile gains about 300 feet before entering Taylor Canyon; the next two miles gain roughly 2,000 feet to the peak. The route is typically snow covered in February and can involve winter mountain conditions. Participants are advised to prepare for ice and wind; spikes or shoe screws are recommended if ice is present. Carpooling is encouraged.
