Running 4 Clean Water-PLUS 2026
Running 4 Clean Water-PLUS is a community fundraising event in Garland that supports clean and safe drinking water, education, and food security initiatives in rural Sierra Leone. The event continues a partnership with Seven Hills Global Outreach and Zion Ministries and marks the 15th year of the project, with more than $230,000 raised to date.
Event distances offered:
- 5K Run (chip timed)
- 1 mile Fun Run/Walk
- Virtual 5K and Virtual 100 mile challenge
The in-person course for the 5K uses the Duck Creek Greenbelt trail. The path is cement and passes through wooded and open areas. Runners and walkers should be aware of occasional uneven pavement and one low section of path that may lead to postponement if there is rain. Organizers will survey trail conditions the day before the event.
Policies and logistics include a pets rule that differs by event: the in-person 5K does not allow pets, while the 1 mile fun run permits dogs on leashes. Bib and T-shirt pickup is available at First United Methodist Church, Garland (801 W. Avenue B, Garland, TX 75040) on Friday October 16 and the morning of the event at on-site registration; no bag check service will be provided on race day.
The virtual option allows participants to run on a chosen course or track, submit times through the registration portal, and track progress toward a 100 mile challenge. Registrants receive a unique link that serves as the portal for submitting times. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
