Run with the Burros

The event is a pack burro race and trail run. Distances include approximately 26.2 miles, 18 miles, 10 miles, and 5 miles. All distances are open to burro-and-runner teams, as well as runners without burros, who compete in separate categories on the same course.

It is a fundraising event. All proceeds go to charitable, volunteer organizations, specifically supporting California Breakfast Burritos and the Forever Home Donkey Rescue & Sanctuary.

Pending approval, the race date for 2026 is the second Saturday of April. The event starts near the intersection of Highway 14 and Indian Wells Canyon Road in Inyokern, California.

A discounted hotel rate is available at the Days Inn on 201 W Inyokern Road in Ridgecrest for participants who mention the event. Other accommodations in Ridgecrest include hotels and camping. Campers are directed to consult local Bureau of Land Management fact sheets for guidance.

For teams of three or more runners in the 10-mile distance, there is an extra prize competition based on averaged times. Teams of five or more can contact the race director before registration for a free entry code. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
