The 30K and 50K use loop courses on rolling desert terrain over dirt roads, with elevation ranging roughly from 2400 ft to 3500 ft. Temperatures on race day can vary widely. There are nine aid stations stocked with water, Skratch, cookies, and similar items; participants are advised to carry water between aid stations. Ibuprofen is not provided.
Facilities include gym bathrooms and showers available on race day, and a grassy area with shade trees and picnic tables across the road. Pizza and soda are available at the finish; a brewery offers a complimentary drink to those over 21.
Awards include a handmade ceramic medal for all finishers, yearly custom awards for overall winners, age group awards three deep in standard divisions from 19 and under through 70 plus, and a military division prize for top finishers not receiving other awards. The first male and female in the 50K receive lifetime entry. Early starters receive finishing credit but are not eligible for awards.
Shirts are long sleeve technical designs and are guaranteed for paid entries received by November 1, 2026. Bib and shirt pickup is available at the California Welcome Center and at the start line on race day. Entry rules require minimum ages for the 30K and 50K, prohibit pets on course and in the start finish area, and make all fees non refundable and non transferable. There are mandatory cutoff points on course, including Gracie's aid station at 24.8 miles on the 50K and 15.1 miles on the 30K, and a cutoff at the finish. The organizer maintains a credit policy for withdrawals based on how far in advance a runner withdraws. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
