Since 2009 the Park Foundation of Waukesha has hosted the event as a fundraiser for city parks, trails, recreation programs, and the urban forest. The Park Foundation reports more than $200,000 generated and reinvested with the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department. The Park Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and its staff are unpaid volunteers.

In 2023 Silver Circle Sports Events, LLC entered a partnership to manage the event. Rucking is new for 2026; rucking is described as walking or hiking with a weighted backpack. The RAD option is presented as a way for runners to complete a long training distance with event timing, course support, swag, and snacks but without age-group awards.
