The event has been held every year since 1993 and has been hosted by the Park Foundation of Waukesha, Inc. since 2009. Since 2023, Silver Circle Sports Events, LLC manages the event under a partnership with the Park Foundation. Proceeds support city parks, trails, recreation programs, and the urban forest.

Kiddos 1K registration is required; the entry fee is listed as donated to the Park Foundation and participants receive a race bib and a finisher medal. The RAD provides timing and course support for runners who choose their own distance but does not offer age-group awards. Race shirts are long sleeve, dry-wick, and guaranteed for registrants by March 13, 2026 noon; afterwards shirts are available while supplies last.

The Glacial Drumlin Marathon course is USATF certified and uses a mix of city streets, sidewalks, and paved trails including sections of the Fox River Trail and Glacial Drumlin Trail. The route passes Frame Park, Veterans Park, Grede Park, Bethesda Park, and the Fox River Sanctuary. Aid stations are located at approximately every two miles at named trail intersections. Pets are not permitted at the event by municipal ordinance. Volunteers receive a future race entry as a thank-you. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
