Run Saysutshun
Run Saysutshun takes place on Saysutshun Island, a place linked to traditional healing practices of the Snuneymuxw people. The event offers five different formats held over a 24 hour period and uses a roughly 10 km coastal single-track loop around the island.
Runners complete as many loops as their chosen duration allows. Near the end of races a short campground loop is used for final laps to allow participants to maximize distance without risking timing out on the main loop. Any incomplete main loop at the time limit is not credited.
An aid station is located at the start and finish within the group camping area. It is stocked with typical ultra running foods and drinks including perogies, cheese quesadillas, bacon, soup, broth, gels, chips, baked goods, fruit, water, electrolyte mix, coffee and tea. Participants must supply any specific items not provided. The aid area includes a section for crews and gear accessible between completed laps. Saysutshun is home to a large group of raccoons that may take unsecured food or supplies.
A group campsite is reserved for runners and crews as part of registration. Ferry costs are not included in registration fees and participants should plan according to the passenger ferry schedule for access to the island. The event is held on Newcastle Island park.
