Event Overview
The Run for the River 5K and Polar Plunge is a two-part event held on a privately-owned farm in Bowman, Georgia. The main activity is a 5K trail run, with an optional group polar plunge into the Broad River afterward. A separate "Group Polar Plunge Only" registration is also available.
The Course
The 5K trail run route starts and finishes along the banks of the Broad River. The course meanders through meadows, hardwood forest, and long-leaf pine areas on the farm. The event states that walkers are welcome. The course map is available online and is subject to change based on weather conditions.
Other Activities
Following the run, participants can join an optional group Polar Plunge in the Broad River at a beach on the farm. Proceeds from the event support the Broad River Watershed Association's water quality monitoring program.
Registration Details
Registration for the 5K and optional plunge costs $35 ($20 for ages 1-17). Registration for the Group Polar Plunge Only costs $25. Registration ends on February 18, 2026. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners who register by January 6, 2025, and are available afterward while supplies last.
Awards
Custom awards are given to Overall Male and Female, Masters Male and Female, and for male and female age groups in 10-year increments from 10 and under to 80 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
