Run at the Rock

Run at the Rock is an annual trail running event at Cedarock Park in Burlington, North Carolina. The 22nd edition takes place on December 12, 2026. The event offers timed trail races on marked courses with volunteer and medical support.

Distances offered:

  • 5K, 3.1 miles, 217 ft elevation gain
  • 10K, 6.4 miles, 508 ft elevation gain
  • Half Marathon, 13.1 miles, 999 ft elevation gain

Courses combine short sections of pavement and gravel with single-track, double-track, and equestrian trails, plus open grassy stretches. The 10K is a one-loop course; the half marathon is two laps of a similar loop with a timing split recorded between laps. Terrain includes short hills, rocks, and roots, and the organizers describe most trail sections as not overly technical.

Race amenities include a race hoodie, finisher medal, well marked courses, frequent aid stations approximately every 1 to 2 miles, chip timing, post-race hot soup and other food and beverages, live music, free photo downloads, and an awards ceremony with contests and giveaways. A free Kid’s Race for children 11 and under is scheduled on race day and awards are given for overall and age group placings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
