About the race
The Annapolis Striders organize the 17th annual Rosaryville Veterans Day Trail Race, held within the wooded trails and meadows of Rosaryville State Park in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The event offers two distinct distances:
- 50 km
- 20 km
The course is located primarily in deep woods and consists of a 9.5-mile perimeter trail. The terrain is largely buffed-out single track with rolling hills, featuring a total elevation gain of approximately 2,600 feet for the 50 km distance. While the trails are not considered technical, participants should be aware of roots, rocks, and stumps hidden under fallen leaves. The 50 km race involves 3.25 loops of the perimeter trail, while the 20 km involves 1.25 loops.
The start and finish lines are located at the Pavilion picnic area. The course is marked with white pie plates and white confidence ribbons. Two aid stations are positioned along the route to provide hydration and energy. A designated drop bag area is available a short walk from the start line, accessible at multiple points during the race depending on the distance.
Safety regulations prohibit the use of headphones, earbuds, pets, and baby joggers. Registration is limited to 250 participants. There is an 8-hour time limit for the 50 km and a 7-hour limit for the 20 km, with specific cut-off times for entering the final lap. Post-race activities at the pavilion include hot food such as BBQ chicken sliders and vegetarian chili, fire pits, and music. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
