Georgetown Turkey Trot 5K
The Georgetown Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning road race in Georgetown, Washington DC, that includes an in-person 5k and an additional 10k distance. The course runs along the C&O Canal on a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change and is out-and-back in layout.
The event is chip timed. Participants receive a finisher’s medal and a long-sleeved technical event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed before November 11. Walkers and strollers are welcome. A virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person.
Race services and logistics include:
- 5k course with one water station at about mile 1.5
- 10k course with water stations near miles 1.5, 3.1, and 4.65
Packet pickup is available at the event; participants are advised to arrive roughly one hour before their event to check in. Port-a-johns are located near the check-in area. There will be no on-site race registration for this event.
Results are posted live on Athlinks and final results with series points are published the Monday after the race. The event awards the top three men and top three women overall and awards in standard age categories; top three overall finishers are not eligible for age group prizes. The event awards series points toward the Year Long 5k and Back of the Pack Series and the Fall Series.
