Road Kill XC
Hosted by Trail Racing Over Texas in partnership with Hardloop Endurance, Road Kill XC is the HARRA Fall Series cross-country team relay held at Bear Creek Pioneers Park in Houston. The event is a four-person relay covering eight miles total, with each runner completing a two-mile loop.
The event is USATF sanctioned and follows USATF, RRCA, and HARRA relay rules. Teams must carry a relay baton that contains an RFID chip for timing and make hand-to-hand exchanges in a designated exchange area. Each runner may run only one leg and each leg must be completed for the team to remain eligible. All teams eligible for HARRA scoring must have members in good standing with HARRA and their club; mixed-affiliation teams may compete but will not count in HARRA standings.
Course and logistics: the loop is marked with blue spray paint and flagging and is run counter-clockwise with runners keeping to the right. No hydration will be provided on the course. The start/finish and registration area will have tents with water, sports drink, and post-race snacks, but the event is cupless so participants need their own hydration device. Packet pickup at the main tent provides bibs and the baton; bibs are labeled A, B, C, D for each team member.
Divisions are offered across a range of categories, including Open, Youth Boys and Girls, Open Mix, Open Men and Women, Masters and Veterans by age group, and 60+ and 70+ divisions. All finishers receive an XC ribbon; wood engraved medals are awarded to members of winning teams in each division. Parking is at the baseball field area and permanent restrooms and porta-potties are available at the park. There is no race day registration; entries and team changes must be completed on RunSignup by the night before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
